My name is Roger Stowell and I’ve been a professional advertising and editorial photographer since 1968. For the greater part of my career I was a studio based photographer in London but, at the back of my mind, I always had a longing to live in France which dream I achieved in 2001. Nowadays I shoot for myself, picture libraries (Stockfood and Getty Images), undertake the occasional commission which doesn’t take me too far from home and teach digital photography workshops here and in London. Slow photography like slow food is my ideal.
During my career I worked editorially for most of the main magazines in London including Elle, Marie-Claire, Nova, Sunday Times, The Times, The Observer, Telegraph Supplement, Red, Olive, BBC Good Food, Tatler, Over 21, Homes and Gardens,Food & Travel, Sainsbury’s and Taste.
During the 90’s I directed TV commercials through Julian Seddon Fims for a huge raft of clients including Heinz, Maggi, Nestle, Kellogs, Little Chef, Dolmio, HP Sauce, Weight Watchers, Sainsbury’s, Schweppes and many others. Prior to directing commercials I had been shooting still advertising campaigns for the same sort of clients.
I also write a blog – Food, Photography and France
